GP recruitment

In keeping with our approach to lead on the things that can only be achieved by all the councils and NHS organisations across east London working together, we are working on recruiting and keeping key staff, including general practitioners or GPs.

Trainee and experienced GPs (general practitioners) looking for a great place to work, get plenty of support, advice and information when they come to east London. Watch our video and find out why.

Research carried out by the Partnership, Health Education England and Queen Mary University provided important insights into what factors are most important for GPs coming to work in east London and staying here. You can download the report here.

Innovation happens in north east London

General practice is at the heart of healthcare for many people. More surgeries are providing a wider range of services including pharmacies, child health services, phlebotomy (blood tests) and much more.

Many GPs are working closely with colleagues across health and social care as part of innovative programmes, including ‘pop-up’ clinics, street doctoring, and social prescribing. There are opportunities to develop your leadership skills through a range of academic and external partners, as well as through support provided by Community Education Provider Networks.

We have great opportunities for trainees, experienced GPs and locums, whatever stage you’re at in your career, you’ll find a wealth of opportunities in over 280 practices.

In April 2019 we held the second very successful GP careers fair in Stratford. Over 125 people registered to the attend the event which gave GP trainees an opportunity to meet all the east London GP federations, CEPNs (community education provider networks), and working east London GPs.

We’ve also produced a guide to working as a GP in east London which you can download here.

You can find out more about each of the east London GP federations below and what they have to offer.
