There are a number of organisations who collect and report on maternity experiences and feedback nationally.
The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. Listening to the views of patients and staff helps identify what is working well, what can be improved and how.
This CQC maternity survey plays a vital role in understanding the experiences of women who use maternity services. The data from this annual survey is used to inform the CQC’s trust ratings and highlight risk areas which may need attention – essential to providing high-quality care. The Maternity Survey 2021 looked at the experiences of women who had a live birth in early 2021.
There are a number of ways Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP) collect feedback from those who have used maternity services. From 15 Steps for Maternity, to Walk the Patch, online surveys, community visits and focus groups, they gather feedback to help inform areas if improve for their local maternity service.
Each MVP should produce an annual report, circulated to the Clinical Commissioning Group. It can be published to showcase the work of the MVP over the year and can be used to encourage others to get involved and support the work of the MVP.
