Long COVID is commonly used to describe signs and symptoms that continue or develop after an infection of COVID. More information is on the NHS long COVID web pages:
https://www.yourcovidrecovery.nhs.uk/

Long COVID is defined by National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) as:

“signs and symptoms that develop during or after an infection consistent with COVID-19 and continue for more than 12 weeks and are not explained by an alternative diagnosis”.

There are many symptoms of Long COVID and the most common are:

  • Extreme tiredness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Muscle ache
  • Difficulty concentrating/memory loss/confusion
  • Loss of smell or taste
  • Headache
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Worry/anxiety
  • Fast heart rate

Anyone with symptoms should contact their doctor as soon as possible.

If you have symptoms of Long COVID, you may find that there is an impact on your daily activities, including the ability to work, resulting in a reduced quality of life. Therefore, it is important to get the support you need.

Due to the complex nature of long COVID, a large team of health and care professionals with different skills is required to help support people living with the condition, resulting in care across all sectors of care.

As a result, we have put in place local support services across north east London for our local residents.
