Learning disability week – an annual awareness campaign to make sure the world hears what life is like if you have a learning disability.
A learning disability affects the way a person learns new things throughout their life. A person with a learning disability might have some difficulty in:
- understanding complicated information
- learning new skills
- looking after themselves or living alone.
A learning disability is different for everyone. Lots of people who have a learning disability can still work, have relationships, live alone and get qualifications but there are some who may need more support throughout their life.
This year’s awareness campaign focuses on ‘reconnecting’ with friends and their communities. Across north east London, together with our local partners – the local councils and hospital trusts, we have a range of fun activities you can get involved in.
