GPs from Waltham Forest, Barking, Havering, Redbridge, Newham, Hackney and Tower Hamlets came together for the first north east London Sessional and Salaried GPs Forum last week (19 January).
The Sessional and Salaried GPs Forum, organised by the Workforce, Education and Transformation team (CEPN) at NHS Waltham Forest Clinical Commissioning Group, was attended by nearly 50 GPs.
It is the first in a series of events specifically designed to engage with salaried GPs and locums who practice in north east London. The recruitment and retention of GPs has been identified as strategic priority in north east London. The forum is designed to support this priority by focusing on a range of clinical and non-clinical topics facing general practice.
The format enables attendees to take part in networking opportunities with other GPs, commissioners and secondary care clinicians. At the January forum, guest speakers from different parts of the NHS delivered presentations and led discussions on the management in primary care of common conditions in babies, indemnity and pensions, appraisals and revalidation.
To ensure future forum events focus on the issues that are relevant to primary care, GPs are strongly encouraged to contact the organisers with their suggestions for speakers and topics.
The next north east London Sessional and Salaried GPs Forum will take place on Saturday 16 March at The County Hotel, Woodford. To book your place, please email WFCEPN wfccg.wfcepn@nhs.net or ring the team on 020 3688 2624.
